Awards and Grants

By offering awards to outstanding staff and grants to relevant initiatives, ACUADS is committed to supporting the tertiary art and design sector.

Receiving the ACUADS Distinguished Research Award in 2020 was very significant for me – in particular, it has enabled me to demonstrate the impact of research which is deeply community-engaged and oriented to real world outcomes.

Awards

Heads of School from the Art and Design sector are welcomed each year to nominate staff for the annual ACUADS Awards. Recipients receive $500 AUD in addition to a citation and presentation of a pin at the annual ACUADS conference.

The Executive assess all nominations against the stated criteria and reserves the right to make a nomination. One candidate per award category may be successful in any one year, with the potential exception of awarding two candidates in a category if assessment against the criteria results in two equally highest ranked candidates.

Nomination Process

Nominations from Heads of School (or equivalent) should comprise:

  • A 1-page evidence-based statement in the form provided addressing the selection criteria;
    This should address as many selection criteria as possible and relevant for the candidate in relation to the award. Evidence should include examples, awards, teaching metrics, etc.
  • The candidate’s CV, with attention to achievements relevant to the selection criteria, ie in the area of teaching, research and practice.

Deadline and Submission

Dates for the 2021 ACUADS Awards will be announced soon.

Please direct all queries to Thao Nguyen, Executive Officer, ACUADS admin@staging.acuads.com.au (Office hours: Fridays).

Grants

As ever, and relevant to our 2021 conference theme, we are particularly interested in projects that support network building in the art & design HE sector. This may be with industry, community or other academic institutions. A reminder that applications should seek to achieve national impact or benefit; local and single-institution applications may be less successful. We also hope that the scheme will support proof of concept or seed projects, that will form the basis of large grant applications to other schemes. Examples of previous successful applicants are here.

Grant value is up to $5000 AUD.
